my little pinch pot project

  • idea

after what felt like a long time of not making, to get myself back into the swing of creating work i decided to make some pinch pots. instantly i was totaly sucked in. and decided to make a pinch pots every day for 100 days.

Pinch pots are a timeless ceramic technique that invites both beginners and experienced makers to explore their creativity. This method involves shaping a ball of clay using fingers to pinch and form it into a vessel, creating unique, organic shapes. Each pinch pot tells a story through its texture and form, reflecting the individual makers touch. pinch pots embody a sense of playfulness and personal expression in ceramics. Embrace the simplicity and versatility of this ancient craft.

  • make it

the making has become almost a ritual, i sometimes make several a day. the pinch pots are all shapes and sizes and the process has informed my build if my larger works too.

i have started joining some together and created some faces. I call them the Ohhs, as all the little faces all look rather surprised.

  • show it

as a tester i decided to show some pinch pots at ross creek gallery for Ruby Pilven’s open studio weekend. so i set about glazing a bunch of them.

i was very happy with the result and it was extremely fun process
